POST BREXIT
Don't Panic ---- Carry On
The UK decision to leave the European Union has prompted
the question of whether, and if so, how soon current EU regulations for machinery,
etc. could be revoked from UK Law.
All the EU Health and Safety directives concerning
machinery and related equipment have been transposed into UK Law, so currently nothing
changes until the UK government puts in place mechanisms for further
deregulation. However, post-Brexit, it is highly unlikely that any changes will
be made. We are likely to continue to follow the EU, but with very much less
influence in regulatory/EN standards development.
The UK has been a leader in
influencing other EU nations and regulators in developing strong foundations
for future health, safety and environmental laws.
Many UK organisations will want to continue to work and
trade within the EU and, clearly, it will be in their interest to continue
maintaining compliance.
